All we want for Christmas and for this new year is justice for Jose Figueroa and his family and for all refugees and immigrants. Please send xmas Cards to Immigration Minister Jason Kenney asking him to stop the deportation of Jose and his family Telephone: 613-992-2235. Fax: 613-992-1920. E-Mail: email@example.com. We call on the Minister of Immigration Jason Kenney to stop the unbelieveably unjust deportation of Jose and his family and all other immigrants/refugees being unjustly deported due to a problematic immigration law Section 34.1 of the Immigration and Refugee protection act that states that if you were associated with an oppostion movement you are inadmissable to Canada -regardless if your participation was legal and you committed no wrong doing. This law is too broad, and condemns persons who didnt commit any wrong doing, such as Jose, to deportation. Jose was simply a member of a student group speaking out against a violent dictatorship and now due to a bureacratic mess of legislation his family’s life is devastated. Canada is Jose’s home, he has lived here for over 15 years, he has a family, three Canadian born children, a wife and has requested help from the government but his MP states that Ottawa will not help. This law impacting Jose, is extremely immoral and unjust and a mistake.
We want Minister of Immigration @Jason Kenny, and the Canadian government to acknowledge that it is a mistake to deport Jose and others like him who spoke out against violent dictatorships, and stood up for human rights. Jose’s case is not isolated and 10’s of thousands of refugees and immigrants are at risk due to this immigration law.
Not all laws are just —it took Rosa Parks to refuse to obey the law to stand at the back of the bus to spark the end of segragation in the states….we need more people to realize that not all laws are just and that it takes citizens to speak out to help change this situation. PLEASE CALL and send letters asking Minister of Immigration, Jason Kenney to stop the deportation of Jose Figueroa and his family Telephone: 613-992-2235. Fax: 613-992-1920.
